Ingredients

For the BBQ Chicken:

  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken breast
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite—sweet, smoky, spicy, or tangy)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for depth)

For the Quick Pickled Slaw:

  • 1 cup shredded red cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch of black pepper

For Assembly:

  • Slider buns (about 8–10)
  • Optional toppings: sliced pickles, jalapeños, fresh herbs
  • Butter (for toasting buns)

Instructions

Make the BBQ Chicken:
In a saucepan, combine shredded chicken, BBQ sauce, vinegar, and smoked paprika. Heat gently over medium-low until warmed through and saucy—about 5–7 minutes.

Prepare the Slaw:
In a mixing bowl, combine cabbage, carrots, and red onion. In a separate small bowl, whisk together vinegar, honey, salt, and pepper. Pour over the veggies and toss well. Let sit for at least 15 minutes (or chill up to 1 hour) for the flavors to meld.

Toast the Buns (Optional but recommended):
Brush the cut sides of the slider buns with butter and toast them in a skillet until golden brown.

Assemble the Sliders:
Pile BBQ chicken on the bottom half of each bun, top with pickled slaw, add any extras (pickles, jalapeños, etc.), and crown with the top bun.
